From late January to March, the southern Serengeti becomes a stage for one of nature’s most powerful events, the calving season. Over 8,000 wildebeest are born each day, drawing predators and creating thrilling wildlife encounters that you won’t forget.
This five-day mid-luxury safari brings you to the heart of it all. Start in the Ngorongoro Highlands, then journey to the Ndutu area, where herds of wildebeest and other animals create an extraordinary spectacle of life. Upon arrival in Arusha, our Amoa team will be waiting to welcome you with a friendly smile and help you settle in. From there, you’ll begin your journey to the Ngorongoro Highlands a beautiful region of rolling hills, coffee farms, and cool, crisp air. It’s a peaceful introduction to northern Tanzania, with your budget lodge offering comfort, and a calm environment to unwind before heading into the wild.

After a relaxed breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day safari inside one of Africa’s most unique and wildlife-rich landscapes. The crater is home to nearly every major animal species, including elephants, lions, buffalos, and, with a bit of luck, the endangered black rhino. You’ll enjoy a slow-paced game drive with a picnic lunch by the hippo pool a perfect blend of discovery and comfort. The drive back up the crater wall in the late afternoon is nothing short of magical.

This morning, the road leads you from the highlands into the wide-open plains of the southern Serengeti, where the Ndutu area becomes the stage for one of nature’s most moving spectacles. Between January and March, thousands of wildebeest give birth here, creating a nursery in the wild. Your afternoon game drive introduces you to this season of new life expect to see wobbly newborns, watchful mothers, and the watchful eyes of predators in the distance. Nature is gentle, raw, and real all at once.

With a full day to explore Ndutu, your guide will follow the rhythm of the herds. Some moments will be quiet calves nursing, birds overhead, zebra grazing nearby and others will be intense, as lions or cheetahs appear in the distance. The plains are open and dramatic, offering incredible visibility and opportunities for striking photographs. The experience is never rushed; your day is shaped by where the wildlife leads and what speaks to you most.
